The City Council of Cartagena and the concessionaire Hidrogea have managed to partially open to traffic the intersection of the street Jorge Juan and Ramón y Cajal, which had been cut early this morning to produce a hole and various damages in the firm as a result of a breakdown in the junction of the supply pipeline of the Mancomunidad de Canales del Taibilla with the municipal drinking water network.
The rapid intervention of the City Council of Cartagena through the concessionary company Hidrogea, allowed to restore the supply to homes in the area, which were without water for about two hours.
A dozen people were working since this morning in the underground location of the breakdown and its repair, to subsequently replace the firm that had deteriorated by the outbreak of water that has caused the breakage and the consequent drag of land.
Since it is an important crossing in traffic regulation, it has been decided to make a partial repair that would allow the opening of one of the lanes this afternoon.
The Local Police have established alternative access routes mainly for trucks and heavy vehicles that supply goods to the nearby shopping center and supermarkets.
Depending on the rains, the total repair is expected to be completed throughout the weekend.
