Cartagena final details for the celebration of the celebrations of Carthaginians and Romans, which will mark its beginning with the transfer of the Sacred Fire as is tradition, traveling this year 30 kilometers on a route under the title 'Iter Ignis, the journey of fire' on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the holidays.

For the first time, the pebetero will leave the Cartagena walls next Friday, September 20 and will continue the journey of Scipio to our lands, thus lighting in Los Alcázares, passing through La Unión, a guest municipality the last edition of the celebrations, until his arrival to the hill of the Windlass.

The route has been officially presented on Wednesday 11 at the City Hall by the president of the Federation of Troops and Legions, José Antonio Meca, accompanied by the Councilor for Celebrations of the City of Cartagena, Juan Pedro Torralba, next to the mayor of La Unión, Pedro López and the mayor of Festejos de Los Alcázares, José Carlos Castejón, and other councilors of the three corporations and members of the Federation.

The Plaza del Ayuntamiento de Los Alcázares will mark the starting point and lighting of the flame at 3pm and, as a relay race, there will be seventeen the corridors that accompany it to Cartagena, together with a delegation formed by all those who so wish at any of your stops.

Torralba highlights the “enormous capacity for innovation of the partiers, who year after year manage to devise initiatives aimed at seeking the twinning of Cartagena and the different towns to which we are linked,� and this will be demonstrated by this act of lighting the Sacred Fire, which It symbolizes the unity of all the festeros and that, this year, it is ceded for the first time to another municipality.

The mayor also encourages all neighbors, both Cartagena and Los Alcázares and La Unión, to accompany this great symbol and enjoy the event in these festivals where our history is recreated, which this 2019 marks its fourth edition under the title of Tourist Interest International.
