More than 23 thousand students of Infant and Primary and Special Education had yesterday, Tuesday, September 9, their first day of class in the municipality of Cartagena.
In Secondary and Baccalaureate, students will begin the school year on September 13.
This new school year begins to take its first steps and for this, the Department of Education and Social Services of the City of Cartagena have organized for this Thursday, September 12, the III March 'Back to school' to fight against truancy, a scourge of the actual society.
In total, more than 600 children will participate in this activity.
The presentation of this sporting-sporting event took place on the morning of September 10 and was attended by the Councilor for Education, Irene Ruiz and the Councilor for Social Services, Mercedes García.
The march will begin at 9:30 am, from the CEIPS Aníbal, Los Mateos, Asdrúbal, Lo Campano and Nuestra Señora del Mar, in Santa Lucia, to the IES Santa Lucía, where a theatrical performance will take place.
The Councilor for Education, Irene Ruiz, said that they will distribute backpacks, caps, water and fruit for children to have lunch that day and has set "1.18% the number of school absenteeism", which according to Ruiz, has Decreased in recent years thanks to the School Absenteeism Program of the City Council of Cartagena and schools and institutes.
This initiative was awarded on June 29 with the Cartagena Zero Wave Award in the Education category, in its 11th edition.
On the other hand, the Councilor for Social Services, Mercedes García, explained that it is necessary to "reduce absenteeism so that children do not break their schooling and to start the course well with the support of their family."
