A total of 23,209 children of the municipality are already preparing to face their first day of class in the schools and nursery schools of Cartagena, next Monday, September 9.
Specifically, there are 22,330 students of the Infant and Primary Education centers and 879 of the Municipal Infant Schools.
With the intention of guaranteeing the optimal state of the educational centers at the beginning of this school year, the Department of Education of the City of Cartagena has carried out this summer a series of works and improvements that have involved an investment of about 70,000 euros.
In this sense, the Councilor for Education, Irene Ruiz, said that “for us it is very important that this type of action is carried out during the holidays to avoid hindering the normal development of classes.
In this way, we have executed 98% of the works planned to be carried out during this summer period, leaving only one slope that can be done once the course has started, since it does not interfere with its development ”.
Throughout the year, the Department invests about 4 million euros in the maintenance, cleaning, equipment and necessary materials of schools in Cartagena.
In addition, Ruiz has explained that from the Department of Education "we are aware that there are other needs in the educational centers of the municipality and we will continue working to give them a solution as soon as possible."
