This week, the municipal group MC Cartagena, represented by councilors Enrique Pérez, María José Soler and Arancha Pérez, visited the Los Almendros residence, located in the Cartagena deputation of Perín, "which exemplifies the deficiencies that are in dependence in the municipality from Cartagena, "said Cartagena councilor Enrique Pérez.
In this regard, during the next municipal plenary session, MC will present an initiative to "instruct the CARM Governing Council to increase by 12% the current budget allocation received by the municipality of Cartagena in relation to the Regional Budget of 2020, as well as reiterating this increase during the rest of the legislature, which would reduce the waiting list suffered by Cartagena in Dependence by 70%. "
The mayor of MC has remarked that "the numbers support our claim. We are the municipality with the highest waiting list and in dependence we also lead, sadly, this ranking, with almost 20% of the benefit beneficiaries waiting to make use of the same, almost one thousand Cartagena, compared to 10% of the regional average. "
"This situation of comparative grievance is reflected in other areas, such as the residential service for the elderly. According to the World Health Organization, 5% of the total places would correspond to us. Reality tells us that our elders can only have 2, 25% ", has continued reasoning.
Increase in the item for the Unit
To alleviate this circumstance, MC advocates an increase in the item allocated to the Unit in the regional budgets over the next four years so that, in this way, it does not depend solely on casualties of the system for death or resignation.
"As it is easy to deduce," Pérez continued, "the numbers prove us right. And these figures are what should make the upper administrations wake up, starting with the regional one, complying with Article 50 of the Spanish Constitution that obliges to guarantee and promote the welfare of citizens to address, through a social services system, their specific health problems. "
"This situation was already exposed in the last plenary session of July 2018, through a motion presented by MC, in which we denounced that the waiting list amounted to a year and a half from the beginning of the file until it could make use of the benefit".
"Today we bring it back to the time of advocating for the joint work that allows the waiting list to be progressively reduced over the next four years. We do not want patches but definitive solutions to guarantee a dignified health benefit to our elders and dependents ", concluded the councilman cartagenerista.
