Rain without incident during the passage of the cold drop through the municipality (28/08/2019)

The passage through the municipality of Cartagena de la DANA or 'cold drop' ended yesterday with moderate values of rainfall and few incidents.

The orange notice of the AEMET that was extended from 0 hours to 20 hours on Tuesday, August 27, had its highest incidence between 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm when it rained almost widely in the municipality, in some sites with greater intensity, registering an average of 6.4 liters per square meter.

The main incidence was lived in the area of La Aljorra and had as protagonists the ramblizos from the neighboring municipality of Fuente Álamo, where some 29 liters per square meter between 15:30 and 17:30 hours were counted.

The runoff that led to the Rambla de El Albujón forced the Local Police of Cartagena to make two cuts of roads, which barely lasted two hours and opened at seven in the afternoon: one on the road that connects La Aljorra with the factory Sabic and another on the road that connects the site of La Mina with Lobosillo, on the border with the municipality of Murcia.

The device prepared in previous days by the City Council facilitated the proper functioning of the boulevards, whose evolution was always monitored, and the sewage of urban centers, avoiding flooding, obstructions and dragging.

The Councilor for Public Safety, Public Road and Festivities, Juan Pedro Torralba, was during the day visiting, together with municipal technicians, the most conflicting points in rainy episodes.

ARRANGEMENTS OF THE DESPERFECTS IN BEACHES

Today it is proceeding, especially in the beach areas, to repair the damage that runoff and outlets of the ramblizos have produced in the sand, so that bathers can enjoy their last summer days.

The most affected beaches have been those of the Mar Menor, where there were higher rainfall, while those in the west, such as El Portús, Isla Plana, San Ginés or La Azohía, the damages have been minor.

The staff of the Department of Infrastructure, Services and Coast, directed by María Casajús, hopes to restore normality to the beaches throughout this day.
