Isabel García urges Torralba to copy the work of MC, since "mobility is another matter in which we have lost, for the moment, two years"
This morning the newspaper La Verdad reports the plans of the municipal government to bring the debate of the second phase of pedestrianization of the center to the local Commerce Council in September.
The Councilor of MC Cartagena, Isabel García, has valued this news as "an occurrence that Castejón raised at the end of the last term to cover his lack of ideas and inaction in terms of commercial promotion."
"Now it seems that Manuel Padín, 'paladin' of the mayor, picks up the idea and we do not know what interests, because it has the opposition of the shops, intends to take it to the local Council of Commerce," said the mayor.
García recalled that the Council was created as a "consultative body to seek the economic revitalization of trade in Cartagena", for which there was the participation of both public institutions and private organizations, which directly or indirectly are related to commercial economic activity "But inaction and incapacity, constant travel companions of Castejón and his Government, and which has now transferred to its PP and Citizen allies, has caused neither the Council nor the two work commissions that initially set out to constitute, of commercial revitalization and commercial infrastructures, they have come to work as they should ", explained the councilor of MC.
"This has happened because there was no real and determined commitment of the Socialist Government during the previous legislature and we are very afraid that they will not do so now since they have not even appointed the new members of the Council. They must continue on vacation," he lamented. Isabel García, who concluded by lamenting that "the local government continues to play against Cartagena since the fundamental challenges facing small businesses are evident today, on the one hand, the development of the Trade Promotion Plan Proximity and, on the other, the improvement of commercial infrastructure, but not pedestrianization ", Isabel García concluded. Isabel García:" Mobility, another matter in which we have lost, for the moment, two years "
Regarding a supposed plan of the local government to improve the circulation of the Old Town, García has shown that "although it seems a lot to ask Torralba to schedule with time and success, he told us at the last plenary that he was preparing the mobility week, so it might surprise us and I already have everything planned. "
Given this situation, the mayor of Cartagena has reminded him that "just in case, he can implement, and will succeed, the concrete measures that arose from the coordinated work that began with the Mobility Bureau, agreed by all operators and integrated into the Plan M17 that drove MC ".
Among the initiatives to be implemented are those of "calming traffic throughout the Historic District from the Alfonso XIII promenade or San José gates; launching the bollards that we installed to progressively reach a situation where from the calle del Duke with Caridad and Gisbert only circulate public services (bus and taxi), residents, bicycles, motorcycles and electric vehicles; convert the Calle de la Palma and the initial section of the Channels street into semi-pedestrian, eliminating the sidewalks and delimiting the area with bollards of pedestrian traffic and, of course, improve the service known as 'Icue Bus' in frequency and routes to also serve the university community. "
These measures will be complemented, Isabel García added, "with the search and implementation of deterrent parking lots, tested during the MC Government, as well as the implementation with reversible measures of superblocks that calm traffic in the widening without losing fluidity" .
Similarly, the councilor of MC recalled "the councilman expelled from the Socialist Party Juan Pedro Torralba, because perhaps he does not know, since he did not go to the presentation of provisional results, that there are three UPCT studies pending completion whose conclusions are about the traffic, the behavior of the pedestrians and the situation of the taxi sector in the municipality. It will do well to nourish itself, in the absence of own contributions and merits, of the knowledge and work of our university. "
Finally, it has shown that "it should not be forgotten that in order for these policies to work, the rules and schedules must be enforced, with special emphasis on ensuring transit for people with reduced mobility and on loading and unloading, not with Confiscatory or collection spirit, but of awareness and improvement, testing the measures and situations for a year and then adapting the final measures to its result, as it was going to be done from January 2018. Another matter in which we have lost, for the moment , two years".
