AUGC has been denouncing the precariousness of the staff of the Company of the Civil Guard of Cartagena for several years, the need for the creation of a Main Post in Cartagena and the increase in the number of other quarters.
The criminal level in our Region has increased by 6.3% in the first quarter of the year (Balance of Criminality 2019 of the Secretary of State) being very remarkable the sense of citizen insecurity that the citizens of the Campo de Cartagena have, such and as they have denounced different media, which has even led to the creation of "neighborhood patrols."
All citizens residing in the territorial demarcation of the Civil Guard are witnesses to the lack of citizen security patrols, the temporary closure of the various barracks in the Region and the excessive response time of a patrol when a notice is received due to the large surveillance zone (sometimes traveling distances of more than 50 km to the warning)
The barracks of El Albujon is a clear example of this situation, having to monitor an extensive area of more than 65 km2 and give protection to 15,000 inhabitants, with a very short official staff of 13 civil guards, which this summer has been under minimum working an average of three civil guards (there are 7 vacancies) and two patrols per week, that is, covering 16 hours of service per week.
Of course, it is not possible to be described as insufficient but as very poor and that is why the areas most affected by the increase in crime are the ones to watch this barracks such as Pozo Estrecho, La Aljorra, El Albujon, Lomas del Albujon and the Guide.
URGENT CREATION OF THE MAIN POSITION OF CARTAGENA.
The Cartagena Barracks also includes the barracks of El Albujon (13 components in catalog) La Unión (22 components in catalog) and Fuente Álamo (20 components in catalog) resulting in the actual workforce of the last two deficient and very poor El Albujon headquarters.
AUGC has demanded on many occasions that the staff of these barracks become 30 civil guards in the catalog and that the Cartagena Main Post be created with 80 civil guards, in order to provide a citizen security service of guarantees and pay attention to quality.
The Cartagena Civil Guard Post currently has about thirty components to serve in an area of more than 280 km2 of the Campo de Cartagena and a population of more than 37,000 inhabitants, in addition to supporting the La Unión barracks, El Albujon and Fuente Alamo.
With the current workforce they can only take out a patrol to monitor those 280 km2, which is impossible and also provide support to the aforementioned barracks.
These demands and others will be presented to the Government Delegate in writing and we hope that in a prompt meeting that we will request, to solve this serious situation and where the urgent creation (before the end of the year) of the Cartagena Main Post would provide a provisional solution to the lack of personnel of the rest of quarters of the Field of Cartagena.
