More than 200 people gathered on Friday, August 23 at El Llano del Beal to travel the 7 kilometers of the Mining Sender Route that this year has reached its seventh edition.
The Department of Sports of the City of Cartagena collaborated in this event, which was attended by the mayor of Education Irene Ruiz.
In addition, there was a special device of the Local Police of Cartagena.
The tour has served, in addition to being in contact with nature and exercising outdoors, to raise awareness among participants of the harmful impact of mining activity in the area.
The participants were able to observe a lunar landscape as well as a rural one, with the Mar Menor in the background.
Hikers could also visit the quarries, rafts and swamps near the town.
At the end of the route, gifts were raffled among the attendees.
It is worth noting the participation of the association Zancadas on Wheels, which helped two people with reduced mobility to take the tour, with two Joëlette chairs and about fifteen volunteers from this group.
600 PEOPLE RUN THE MINING POPULAR CROSS
Around 600 people of all ages participated in the XV edition of the Popular Cross Mining of El Llano del Beal.
About 120 volunteers helped the organization of the test, which took place without incident.
In the men's category, the winner was Jaro Caparrós, of the Alumbres Sport.
In the women's category, the winner was Ana Isabel Cánovas, from the Mobel Automenor Running Team.
In the test was the Councilor delegate of Sports of Diego Diego Ortega.
The Department of Sports of the City of Cartagena also collaborated in this event.
The corridors had to complete more than 8 kilometers of mountainous, forested areas and of dirt.
Of the 600 participants, 3 were from the Zancadas Sobre Ruedas association, which had about 20 volunteers.
