One more year, El Portús celebrated the end of the summer with its Marinera Day last Saturday, the 24th, traditionally called Portisum Jábega, which this year celebrates its X edition.
From 10.30 in the morning, the locals commemorated the origins of their town with activities throughout the day focused, mostly, on raising awareness with the natural and marine environment such as cleaning and collecting cigarette butts on the beach, where it was presented to those who refill a full glass with a soda.
Sailing tours were also made to the Sierra de La Muela, Cabo Tińoso and Roldán Protected Natural Area, navigating the coast and the Tińoso Marine Reserve with the collaboration of the Soldecocos association.
The final touch of the day was put by the traditional mass in the Hermitage of Portús, where outdoor seating was used, followed by the representation of the jábega, where they simulated the cove and its collection.
The events were attended by the second deputy mayor, Manuel Padín, who received representatives of the City Council of Conil de la Frontera and its Fishermen's Association who also celebrate the Jábega on their coast, accompanied by the Councilor for Celebrations, Juan Pedro Torralba, together with the councilors of the Corporation Aránzazu Pérez and Gonzalo Abad.
