About twenty children have benefited from the Summer School that took place during the months of July and August at the López Primitivo Special Education Center.
Students between 3 and 21 years old have participated in various recreational activities during this time.
This Friday, August 23, the diplomas have been given to the volunteers of the D´Genes association, who have carried out the workshops of this summer school promoted by the AMPA of the center and the Department of Education of the City Council of Cartagena.
According to the Councilor for Education of Cartagena, Irene Ruiz, "the objective of this summer school has been to provide leisure opportunities for these children and to help parents' conciliation" during the months in which students are left without school year
The association responsible for carrying out the activities is D´Genes, a group responsible for improving the quality of life of people with special needs.
One of the social workers of the association and the delegate of D´Genes in Cartagena is María Ángeles Carrión.
"Families demanded a lot of family respite, especially in the summer months, which are the most complicated."
The volunteers of the association have been responsible for the development of the workshops.
During this summer school, participants have been able to make decorations, inventions and aquatic activities.
The activities will end the week from August 26 to September 1.
