On Saturday, August 17, the Cartagena association Zancadas on Wheels was part of an expedition in which 23 of its volunteers climbed to Veleta Peak, in Sierra Nevada, along with people with functional diversity.
The activity was designed by Martín Challenge and coordinated by the Afoprodei collective.
In total about 60 people participated.
Among them, the cartageneros Loli Villena, Paco Jiménez, Julio Ferreira and Roberto Clemente who have fulfilled their dream of climbing this peak.
To do the climbing, Striding on Wheels has needed five Joëlette chairs and three directional bars.
Zancadas sobre Ruedas is a non-profit, voluntary, welfare and sports association.
Its main objective is to promote and facilitate access to leisure and leisure activities for people with functional diversity.
His official presentation took place in October 2018 at the Cartagena City Council by the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, together with the general director of Family and Social Policies, Miriam Pérez;
the president of the association, Teresa Rodríguez;
Vice Chancellor for Students, University Extension and Sports, Sergio Amat;
and the director of the CaixaBank business area in Cartagena, Carlos Merelo.
