Hundreds of neighbors and vacationers from Cabo de Palos crowded the church of Santa María del Mar on Thursday to pay tribute to the patron saint of the town.
First a mass was celebrated, which was attended by the vice mayor of Cartagena, Noelia Arroyo and the second deputy mayor, Manuel Padín, along with the members of the municipal corporation, Mercedes García, Cristina Pérez, Jesús Giménez and Gonzalo Abad, among other authorities, and after the Eucharist they accompanied the image of the Virgen del Carmen to the port of Cabo de Palos.
The procession was led by women in the traditional costume of fishermen and the Virgin's banner in front.
The Cubas Drum and Bugle band put music on the tour, during which the conch shells also rang.
Upon arrival at the port, the image embarked on the 'Punta del Cabo' to tour the bay, where a crown of flowers was launched in memory of the dead sailors.
The seafaring procession was accompanied by several boats of individuals and fishermen.
Upon his return to the church, the Hail to the Virgin was sung before her re-entry into the temple.
