Moreno has received the distinction at the Ibero-American Symposium on Pharmaceutical Sciences held on August 15-17 in Sao Paulo
Stella Moreno (ÇAlcoy (Alicante, 1959), is a doctor in Pharmacy. She was the first woman who joined the School of Industrial Engineering in Cartagena in 1981 and the first woman to win a chair in Environmental Technologies in Spain. He currently belongs to the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering of the UPCT, coordinates the Aerobiology and Environmental Toxicology research group, and teaches and research focuses on Environmental Science and Technology, and coordinates the Aerobiological Network of the Region of Murcia He is also a member of the International Brotherhood of Researchers of Toledo, he belongs to various scientific associations, including the Spanish Association of Aerobiology of which he is the Secretary (2015 ‐ to date) Academic Number of the Academy of Pharmacy Santa Mara de Espaa and the Academy of Veterinary Sciences of the Region of Murcia Secretary of the Academy of
Pharmacy.
Professor Moreno, from the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, is the fifth foreign honorary academic of the Brazilian scientific institution.
During his stay in Brazil, Moreno has given a conference on Environment, Health and Epigenetics at the Symposium.
The professor highlighted during her intervention the importance that the environment has on health (according to WHO, 23% of overall mortality is attributable to environmental factors), highlighting the role that epigenetics (changes in the expression of genes without that there has been no change in the sequence of DNA bases) may be playing in the environment and health binomial, and the need to know these aspects better to implement action plans that reduce the disease burden attributable to factors environmental.
