The Brotherhood of San Ginés de la Jara, together with the Brotherhood of Romeros and the Parish of San Ginés, has organized for August 23, 24 and 25 a series of acts in honor of the patron of Cartagena, which this year meets its 342 years of patronage.
The activities, in which the City Council of Cartagena collaborates with other entities, will take place in the San Ginés neighborhood and will begin on Friday, August 23, at 8 p.m., with a parade and a floral offering to the patron, which will depart from the Local Social to the parish.
There at 20:30 hours the proclamation will be pronounced, which will be borne by the president of the Federation of Carthaginians and Romans, José Antonio Meca, and whose completion will be served to all attendees.
On Saturday August 24 will take place the Pilgrimage of San Ginés de la Jara, from the Basilica of Charity to the base camp, located on the La Manga Highway 2.8 km, along with Luna Renovables, El Beal.
It is organized by the Brotherhood of Romeros and will have a stop at the Parish of San Ginés, where there will be a floral offering, the blessing of the carts and the chocolate tasting with buns.
After stopping at the parish, the pilgrims will follow the following itinerary: La Aparecida, Torreciega, Roche, Los Camachos, Strait of San Ginés and Monte Miral, here the base camp will be located, where there will be a large verbena.
On Sunday, August 25, the patron's feast, a mass will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the parish, chaired by the Rev. Lázaro Gomáriz López, which will be followed by a procession with the image of San Ginés de la Jara on the Engineer Avenue of the deer.
Participants may wear regional costumes.
Upon arrival at the temple, the traditional solidarity sale of bread rolls from San Ginés will take place, as well as a chocolate cake with buns and lemonade from San Ginés.
