The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, has attended the meeting, held at the City Council of San Pedro del Pinatar, this Tuesday, August 6, to discuss the issue of the Mar Menor with the Minister of the Environment, Antonio Luengo, and the mayors of the riverside municipalities of Los Alcázares, San Javier and San Pedro del Pinatar, Mario Cervera, José Miguel Luengo and Martínez Visitation, in which a calendar of meetings and performances has been set.
In fact, the mayors of the riverside municipalities have agreed to hold monthly meetings with the counselor, in the same way that the technicians of the different administrations will work together in the development of a specific action protocol for each area of ​​the coast, whose points they will share every fifteen days.
After leaving the meeting, the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, said that the monthly meeting between the four municipalities with Antonio Luengo and the one that will be held every 15 days between the technicians of the Councils and Department of Environment, With a representative of the Segura Hydrographic Basin and the Coastal Demarcation, it will serve to highlight “the importance of the collaboration of the different regional and state administrations to find a way out to the Mar Menor”.
Another of the measures that has been established has been the development of a specific action protocol for each area of ​​the coast.
The mayor of Cartagena has asked the Minister of the Environment "greater speed for the recovery of Los Urrutias and Los Nietos."
In this sense, Castejón has reiterated the need to install five spas, two in Los Urrutias, two in Punta Brava and one in Estrella de Mar as soon as possible and simultaneously.
Similarly, it has placed special emphasis on the importance of putting all material and human resources in the removal of sludge, as well as in the collection of rainwater in Los Nietos, in order to begin with the project of the promenade.
The Minister of the Environment, Antonio Luengo, has affirmed that this same meeting will be repeated every month in the different municipalities of the riverside municipalities because “the Mar Menor does not understand colors or political differences and our only objective is to work together in the recovery of this salty lagoon ”.
In addition, Luengo has indicated that he has requested a meeting with the Minister of Ecological Transition in operation, Teresa Ribera, since “the Mar Menor has no wait and we will evade the noise around this lagoon greets, focusing on the most important: his recovery ”.
