The sixteenth edition of the International Festival of Improvised Oral Poetry 'Trovalia' started last Thursday night August 1 in the Town Hall Square with troveros, musicians, sudden and poets who until Sunday will carry the art of rhyming throughout the town.
The second lieutenant of the mayor of Cartagena, Manuel Padín, was in charge of inaugurating the event extolling the stage of the first evening trovera, the facade of the City Hall, next to the sea.
And, the sea is one of the protagonists of this festival that will have its second day this Friday on the Maritime Walk of Mar de Cristal and tomorrow Saturday will close the program in the Plaza de la Iglesia de Isla Plana.
A consecrated contest that has the participation of seven Latin American countries: Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Panama, Uruguay and Venezuela, which join Spain by providing authentic artists of rhyme and improvised verse.
And all thanks to the organization of the José María Marín Trovera Association and the collaboration of the Cartagena City Council, through the Department of Celebrations;
and the Institute of Cultural Industries and Arts of the Region of Murcia.
Manuel Padín kicked off the contest by praising the work done in the previous editions that has turned it into a “charming†festival and still has many surprises to give in future editions.
And, as the mayor said, each evening brings new rhymes and a demonstration of the talent of the participants.
Therefore, he invited Cartagena and visitors to enjoy the contest.
The municipal representative praised the work done from the José María Marín Trovera Association, and, in particular, the dedication of its president, Juan José García, for giving the festival the splendor that it currently has and that have made it a National, European and international reference.
