The beach of San Ginés will again be this Sunday, August 4, for the third consecutive year, the scene of the Solidarity Crossing 'Playas de La Azohía'.
This sports event, in which more than a hundred swimmers will participate, is organized by the Tiovivo Foundation, in collaboration with the Department of Sports of the City of Cartagena, the General Directorate of Sports of the Region of Murcia and the Association of Neighbors of Azohía
The swimming trip was presented on Friday, August 2 by the Councilor for Sports of the City Council of Cartagena, Diego Ortega, the organizer of the crossing, Pedro Velasco and the head of the Tiovivo Foundation, Luis Cuenca.
The mayor delegate of Sports, Diego Ortega, said that this test "comes to boost the sporting activity that is taking place these days in the west of the coast of Cartagena, as they are in La Azohía or Isla Plana."
The solidarity sports event will take place after 8 hours, from San Ginés Beach.
This third edition will have four distances.
The Councilor for Sports has explained that "in the 1,500 and 5,000 meter swim courses adults, 600 meters, children and 100 meters of solidarity will participate, for those who start the test."
One of the organizers of the crossing, Pedro Velasco, has said that the money raised will go entirely "to the Association of Rare Diseases D'Genes, the Murcian Association of Cystic Fibrosis and the Tiovivo Foundation".
The Tiovivo Foundation, which promotes social integration with people with disabilities, carries out therapies with horses and other animals.
Its responsible Luis Cuenca has thanked the participation of the swimmers and the collaboration of the organizers.
