The Polytechnic University of Cartagena UPCT and the City Council of Cartagena will intensify their collaboration to expedite and improve the implementation of Smart City in the city, enhance equality and technical vocations among students, among many other issues.
This was agreed during the meeting held today, July 30, in the Administrative Building.
On behalf of the municipal government, the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón;
the vice mayor, Noelia Arroyo;
the second deputy mayor, Manuel Padín;
the Councilor for Education, Employment and Business, Irene Ruiz;
the Councilor for Culture, Youth and Equality, David Martínez;
the Councilor for Infrastructure, Services and Litoral, María Casajús;
the Councilor for Public Safety, Public Road and Celebrations, Juan Pedro Torralba;
the councilor delegate of Transparency, General Services and Electronic Administration, Alejandra Gutiérrez;
and the Councilor Delegate of Sustainable City and European Projects, Cristina Mora.
On behalf of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, the rector Alejandro Díaz attended, accompanied by the vice chancellors of the different university areas and by the manager of the teaching institution.
The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, has highlighted “the good harmony, coordination and loyalty†that exists between the City of Cartagena and the UPCT.
Among other issues, the implementation of the Smart City Project has been addressed.
The mayor of Cartagena has said that from the municipal government "they expect this year to make the qualitative leap in Cartagena so that the city is a Smart City."
In addition, he said that for the implementation of this initiative is "necessary collaboration with the UPCT, given its technical and university character."
For his part, the rector of the UPCT, Alejandro Díaz, explained that other issues have also been discussed, such as “the construction of the new university residence in the old administrative building of the City Council of Cartagena, the underground parking at the university, the internationalization, the Cartagena Piensa cultural project or the International Summer Campus â€.
