Almost all of the hotels in and around Cartagena have their own website, according to the analysis made by the student of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) Laura Navarro Martínez for her Final Degree Project (TFG) in Tourism, in the one that alerts of some gaps in the available information because, for example, none of them offers the possibility of touring the facilities with a virtual tour.
"All pages have a photo gallery but none have a virtual tour when really all information is scarce for the client, since the more attractive the hotel finds, the more possibilities there will be to book your stay in it," said the graduate in Tourism, adding that “it is positive that all pages make available to customers a description of the hotel and facilities, since it is a very necessary information for the traveler who wants to know what type of hotel will be hired and where he is going to stay. â€
“Although not all websites have 100% of factors necessary to have an excellent quality page, the vast majority of hotels have a complete website to a greater or lesser extent.
On the contrary, the use and promotion of profiles in social networks is too low today and shows that, although hoteliers know the importance of online presence, there is still a great way to go, â€says Laura Navarro .
77% of hotels have a Facebook account, 50% are on Twitter, 35% also on Instagram and 31% on Instagram, but they are not always updated properly.
"There is a lot of awareness about the usefulness of social networks, which are the most important marketing tool today," he adds.
"The presence in social networks is mandatory for a good positioning on the Internet, to make known to potential customers and to retain existing ones," he concludes.
The TFG, directed by Noelia Sánchez Casado, also notes positively that 92% of hotels make it possible to reserve rooms from their own websites and that 96% show their geolocation.
92% of the websites have a mobile version, but only 19% have their own app.
77% show their privacy policy and 58% show a safe trade icon, according to the data collected by the student, who analyzed 26 hotels in Cartagena, La Manga, La Unión, Los Alcázares, San Pedro del Pinatar and Torre Pacheco .
“Those who suggest accommodation seekers to tourists looking for where to sleep in Cartagena,†explains the former student.
"The number of hotels that present tourist information of the environment is high, although they should be more since consumers can opt to book at the hotel attracted by the possibility of carrying out any of the promoted activities," said the graduate of the UPCT.
Among the services provided by the hotels in Cartagena, the TFG highlights the Sercotel Alfonso XIII, which offers a portable mini router for customers to enjoy Wi-Fi signal during their visit to the city.
“This service would be very useful for many travelers and should be taken into account and be present in more hotels,†says Laura Navarro.
