The International Festival of Improvised Oral Poetry 'Trovalia' returns for the 16th time during the month of August to fill the streets of Cartagena with troveros, musicians, sudden and poets.
This event, consecrated in the city, is organized by the José María Marín Trovera Association, in collaboration with the Department of Celebrations of the City Council of Cartagena and the Institute of Cultural Industries and Arts of the Region of Murcia.
The presentation was made by the mayor of Festejos, Juan Pedro Torralba, who appeared on July 25 together with the president of the Trovera Association 'José María Marín', Juan José García, former president José Martínez 'El Taxista' and the trovero Juan Santos 'El Baranda'.
On this occasion, Trovalia will be held from August 1 to 3, starting at 10 p.m., in Cartagena, Mar de Cristal and Isla Plana, in this order.
The mayor of Festejos, Juan Pedro Torralba, explained that the three days will be held in these three destinations because of “its proximity to the seaâ€, since the music that is going to be improvised on the stage is formed by “songs and poems of going and comings â€of people arriving or leaving from cities and countries by sea.
Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Panama, Uruguay, Venezuela are the eight Latin American countries invited, in addition, from the Canary Islands, Andalusia, Murcia, La Unión and the José María Marín Trovera Association itself.
According to the president of the José María Marín Association, Juan José García, this makes "the impromptu music contest a national, European and international reference and also a regional reference alongside the Carthaginian and Roman festivals."
"It is difficult to reach a goal and stay in it and I think Trovalia has not reached the goal but is increasingly growing more and more," said the president of the Trovera Association José María Marín, who concluded by highlighting that "We are the ambassadors of poetry and the improvised verse of Cartagena and this is the weapon we use to unite cities and countries and not bullets or bombs."
The poster of this new edition has been designed by the artist from Malaga Francisco Javier Toro, better known as 'Blas' and represents the Greek god of the Sun, Helios, illuminating every corner.
It is a work that plays with a wide range of bright colors, which transports us to the different ways of dealing in Latin America.
