The Esplanade of the Port is full of faces with the exhibition of La Mar de Arte ´Inside Out´ (24/07/2019)

The Sea of Music turns 25 and to celebrate it, Cartagena has decided to give it one of the best gifts: its participation in the 'Inside Out' project.

The urban art exhibition, created by the international artist JR, has been inaugurated on July 24 at the Cartagena Port Esplanade.

The Councilor delegate of Culture of the City of Cartagena, Carlos Piana, who has visited with the Councilor for Culture, David Martnez, the exhibition of La Mar de Arte, explained that “it consists of 50 portraits of 25 girls and 25 boys from Cartagena .

All of them are 25 years old, the same age as the festival. ”

These young people have grown up with The Sea of Music and with the changes and improvements that the city has experienced in this quarter century.

According to those responsible for the festival, "they are the future of Cartagena and the festival, so only they can be the protagonists of the portraits of this project."

This new exhibition aims to symbolically close a cycle initiated in Cartagena in 2008 by the renowned international artist JR.

That year, in which the festival was dedicated to France, its country of origin, JR presented 'The furrows of the city', an intervention on the public highway with which it made visible the wrinkles of Cartagena, those of its buildings, its streets , but also, those of the faces of its inhabitants.

Wrinkles that were testimonies of a changing city.

The goal of this new exhibition is to give everyone the opportunity to share their message, telling images of their community stories without using words.

Faces full of stories and experiences, which with only a quarter of a century, have seen how the city has been changing little by little.
