The Finance and Interior Commission, meeting this noon, under the presidency of the Area Councilor, Esperanza Nieto, has unfavorably informed the nomination files of the Paco Martín Auditorium;
the Press Room of José Albaladejo, the Dolores Peña Park in El Llano del Beal and the Plaza de Isabel Hernández Navarro in the neighborhood of the Plan.
The report has been unfavorable because none of them obtained the favorable vote of all the municipal groups, as established by the Regulations of Municipal Honors and Distinctions.
Thus United We-Left United-Equo has abstained in the four files waiting to be able to fix their position.
On the other hand, MC Cartagena has voted against the nomination of the Auditorium of Paco Martín.
The rest of the groups, PP, PSOE, Citizens and Vox, have voted in favor of the files, which will be included in the full agenda next Friday, given the mandatory but not binding nature of the commission's opinion, corresponding to the final decision to the Corporation through a secret vote that must have the support of 2/3 of the councilors, that is, 18.
The nomination of the Auditorium of Paco Martín in the Alfonso Torres Park, was requested through a plea from the popular municipal group in August last year, on the occasion of the death of the former municipal cultural programmer for more than 30 years and director and creator among others of the International Sea Music Festival.
His death caused great consternation both in Cartagena and in the region and during the period of public exposure of the file numerous samples of accession were received.
It should also be remembered that last June he was awarded the Gold Medal of the Region posthumously and in December of last year, Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts.
The nomination of the Press Room of José Albaladejo Ros was requested by the Association of Graphic Reporters of the Region of Murcia to recognize the work carried out by the photographer of the City Council of Cartagena for almost two decades and a founding member of this association.
Albaladejo died in September 2018 at 56 years of age.
The press room is located in the City Hall, where he developed much of his work as a graphic journalist.
Last May, an exhibition was inaugurated in the Cartagena town hall with a selection of the wide archive of images of the most diverse cultural, sports, social, festive and political events that he captured with his camera, omnipresent in all of them.
