The second deputy mayor and councilor of the Tourism and Commerce area, Manuel Padín, is in Romania this week, representing the municipal government, to participate in a visit organized by the Federation of the Carthaginian and Roman Festivals to the municipality of Arad with the aim of starting a twinning between both cities and opening new tourist possibilities taking advantage of the strength of the International Tourist Interest of the local festivities.
During the visit, both the councilor of the Tourism area and representatives of Carthaginians and Romans, led by the president of the Federation, José Antonio Meca, will meet with the Romanian authorities to launch various activities for next year, between which is considered an expedition of about 400 festeros to carry out events in Arad for three days between June and July 2020. It is an initiative that starts from the Medieval Federation in Times, which was put in contact with the historic festivities local, through its founder Marius Nicolae Simion, to launch events that serve as a tourist promotion both in Romania and in Cartagena.
The councilman of the area of ​​Tourism has indicated that it is a new contact "very hopeful", which can serve to attract many visitors.
And, Arad is one of the richest areas of Romania, which can be a good market to win new tourists.
The visit of the cartagenera expedition will serve to know the possible locations for the development of next year's promotional events, which emanate from the previous meetings held between the Carthaginian and Roman Festivals and the Medieval Federation in Times;
and to strengthen ties between both cities.
Thus, a meeting is scheduled this Tuesday with the mayor of Arad Calin Bibart, and the honorary consul of Spain in Romania, José Miguel Viñals.
Also on Thursday there will be meetings with those responsible for the area of ​​Culture and Education of the Romanian city to launch a sister project that promotes the history of both cities among school children.
The councilman of the area of ​​Tourism has highlighted the "importance" of attending this meeting for the "potential" of the area.
"It can attract a lot of tourism to our city," said Padín.
In fact, one of the planned meetings will be with a director of the Romanian national airline Tarom.
In addition, the media of Romania have turned to Medieval in Times and there will be special programs on the event that will serve as a first class tourist promotion.
