The Cueva Victoria paleontological site will be a pioneer in the use of new information technologies.
Thus, and thanks to intelligent PVC labels with NFC technology, it will be possible to access important data for research and conservation interventions carried out in the cave.
The system consists of the placement of different labels along the deposit, an aspect that does not alter the cave ecosystem on one hand or leave marks, as they are reversible and easy to eliminate.
For reading and writing, only a mobile terminal with NFC technology will be necessary.
With the implementation of this system, any researcher and manager of the heritage that accesses the cave will be able to know data of the interventions carried out or coordinates of points of interest, without needing to resort to the memories of the excavations, an aspect that undoubtedly improves the knowledge of the treatments and investigations carried out.
This new system of intelligent labels will be tested for the first time in a paleontological site, Cueva Victoria and will represent a technological advance in the improvements of insitu information of the deposits.
The field of work is coordinated by the Cidaris Foundation and has a grant from the General Directorate of Cultural Property of the Region of Murcia, the City of Cartagena and the Cidaris Foundation itself.
