The music made by women has always had a prominent role in La Mar de Músicas, and for years is the festival that has bet more on the presence of bands led by women in their programming.
In fact, this year the percentage rises to forty percent.
The commitment of La Mar de Músicas with equality wants to go further and in this edition they will continue with the actions undertaken in 2018, launching specific measures of prevention and action against sexual harassment and aggression emanating from the Protocol of Prevention and Action against Sexual Assault in leisure spaces in the municipality of Cartagena, approved in August of last year.
As indicated by the Councilor for Culture and Equality, David Martínez Noguera, "for the second time, La Mar de Músicas has a series of specific measures against sexual violence, based on similar actions that have already been implemented successfully. in other events in the city.
The implementation of this type of actions is essential to ensure that the spaces of the festival are free of situations of harassment and aggression and so that the reaction to these situations, if they occur, is as appropriate, fast and effective as possible.
It is everyone's responsibility to make these behaviors visible and that is why La Mar de Músicas joins this effort to eradicate them ".
The measures adopted will be made visible with the installation of a Violet Point in its most multitudinous concert, 'La Barra Libre de La Mar', which brings together more than 10,000 people each year and which will be held on Wednesday, July 24, at the Port esplanade. , next to the El Batel Auditorium.
Violet Point, which will consist of a tent to increase its visibility, will have specialized staff of the Department of Equality to raise awareness and inform about what is sexual violence and how to act in case of aggression, but also accompany women who need it and respond to any call from the Police, Civil Protection, security personnel of the premises or any person who approaches it, paying attention to the episodes that may constitute a possible case of harassment or aggression against the sexual freedom of women.
Specifically Violet Point will be served by a psychologist and a social worker of the City.
In addition, from there will be distributed the necessary information to know what to do in case of suffering an aggression and to make visible the campaign against aggression and harassment against women.
The festival staff has already received specialized training in gender violence by specialists from the Department of Equality of the City of Cartagena.
Volunteers, security personnel and other festival workers are trained to detect possible cases of violence and know how to act in these cases.
All the people who will work in the festival will receive indications on the protocol of action.
"From the Sea of ​​Music are going to use social networks, the screens of the scenarios to convey messages against sexual assault and a special signal in key points of the concert on the 24th. It should be made visible that there is no need to be silent in the face of aggressions .
The objective is to act as a deterrent by highlighting the commitment of the festival against sexual violence and to sensitize attendees about what aggression is, "the mayor explained.
The festival also asks for the collaboration of its audience.
