On Saturday, July 27 at 10:30 pm, the Esplanade of the Lighthouse of Cabo de Palos hosts the free concert 'Habaneras in Cabo de Palos', of the Polyphonic Choir Cartagonova.
This event has the collaboration of the Department of Celebrations of the City of Cartagena.
This concert has been held since 1990. In this year's edition, the thirtieth, the invited group will be the group Ciudad de Cartagena de La Palma.
These concerts began in 1990 at the foot of the lighthouse, on the steps that give access to the keeper's house, in a simple way, without major complications of lights or public address, with a spectacular stage behind us and with a moon It fills in everything high.
Thus the first three editions were carried out for what was called in principle "Concierto a la Luna Llena de Agosto".
The then Director of the Polyphonic Choir Carthagonova, José Espinosa Pérez, after reading a poetry he had written in which he highlighted the image of the lighthouse as guardian of the Mediterranean, he committed himself before the audience to compose the music so that the poem would become in a "habanera" dedicated to this town and its lighthouse.
In August of 1991 it was released with great success "Cabo de Palos", a piece of music that has not stopped being performed year after year in all editions of this Concert.
Together with the "Flor Marina" with lyrics and music by Dr. Lastra, harmonized for four voices also by Maestro Espinosa, they form the final touch of all the Concerts.
