The Summer Children's Schools are already underway in 11 centers in Cartagena.
Around 1,300 children under the age of 12 can benefit from the activities that are being taught.
In the integrated schools in this initiative of the Department of Education of the City of Cartagena, participants have dining service and workshops with which to spend their free time.
The mayor, Ana Belén Castejón;
the vice mayor, Noelia Arroyo;
and the Councilor for Education, Irene Ruiz, visited on Monday, July 8, the activities that are being carried out in one of them: the CEIP Stella Maris in the Barriada Virgen de la Caridad.
Castejón has indicated that "it is a program that we are proud of, that we want to maintain and if we can, increase, since it covers all the children in this area."
Knowledge of personal hygiene, academic training, and a healthy diet are taught in these summer nursery schools.
The mayor says that "it covers problems that an administration as close as a City Council should be there to answer."
As for the participating children, those from families with economic difficulties have had priority.
An "unequivocal" sample, says the mayor of Cartagena Ana Belén Castejón, that the City Council is with those who need it most.
Although several of the activities have an additional cost, some of them are totally free for participants, such as Summer Schools with a Dining Room, which pursue the double objective of guaranteeing adequate food for children during the summer season as well. facilitate family and work-life balance for those students whose parents continue to work.
This is to ensure that all children in the municipality, regardless of their family income, can enjoy the summer and help them to reinforce what they have learned during the course and to stimulate other more creative aspects.
The workshops range from the stimulation of creative imagination for the youngest, to theater, juggling, reading and writing, science and experiments, storytelling, mathematics, physical activity and relaxation.
The educational centers in which they are developed are:
CEIP Hannibal
CEIP Asdrúbal
CEIP Stella Maris
CEIP Vicente Ros
CEIP Vicente Medina
CEIP San Isidoro (El Algar)
CEIP San Ginés de la Jara (The SanGinés Strait)
