This Monday July 8 has opened the fourth edition of the Summer School for homeless organized by the Social Welfare and Sports Area of ​​the City of Cartagena with ACCEM, Cáritas, Colectivo La Huertecica, Red Cross and Santa Teresa Hospitality.
Until July 12, there will be activities of all kinds: workshops, excursions or talks.
They will be developed in part in the La Milagrosa Building, headquarters of the Department of Social Welfare.
At the inauguration was the Deputy Mayor of Cartagena and responsible for this area of ​​Government, Noelia Arroyo.
Arroyo, explained that these activities are intended to generate "a week of coexistence where participants can exchange and share their free time, which is also very important because you learn a lot." The deputy mayor added that this program "is interesting and important because it complements the attention they receive throughout the year, in a more playful way, "with visits, excursions and workshops.
On the opening day, Miguel Alcantud and Lola Cayuela offered a concert with their piano and voice respectively to the delight of all present: a way to start the intense week that awaits these homeless people of the municipality of Cartagena.
On Tuesday 9th there will be creative workshops for the participants, in which they will be able to unleash their talent and imagination.
On Wednesday 10 they will make a cultural route for the great military works of the XVIII century, which has the title 'A walk through our History, the legacy of the Enlightenment'.
On Thursday, November 11, participants in this Summer School will make a maritime outing with the Tourist Boat of Cartagena Puerto de Culturas, which will take them to the Christmas Fort.
Friday July 12 will be the last day of these activities.
Attendees will receive a talk on first aid and daily risks to health.
After her, they will know how to dance salsa through a workshop.
Finally, there will be a farewell snack for the participants.
FOOD BANK AND HEAT WAVE
The deputy mayor of the city, to questions of the journalists, has assured that a solution for the Food Bank of Cartagena is being sought.
He said that it is not easy, "because of the situation that is dragging" this entity but from the Department of Social Welfare is working for a proposal that combines the best conditions for the Food Bank that "is a priority for the City."
He also referred to the heat wave recorded this weekend, noting that from the Department of Social Welfare, there have been no major interventions within the protocol for care of the elderly or especially vulnerable.
