This Sunday, June 23, the day of Corpus Christi was celebrated, a festival celebrated 60 days after Easter Sunday and intended for the exhibition of the Blessed Sacrament, which was carefully sheltered in a monstrance and was led through the streets of the cities while a fervent escort of the faithful accompanied him in solemn procession.
In the church of Santa María de Gracia, the Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena, Monsignor Sebastián Chico Martínez, was charged with officiating the solemn Eucharist celebrated at 6:30 p.m.
During the event, attended by the deputy mayor, Noelia Arroyo, accompanied by the second deputy mayor, Manuel Padín, along with councilors María Casajús, María Amoraga, Jesus Giménez Gallo and Maria Dolores Ruiz the parishioners prayed and sang hymns praising the Blessed Sacrament, then proceed to process through the streets of the city center that were dressed in flowers and even tapestries or carpets.
In this traditional event all those children who received the first communion during this year with their costumes and dresses participated, creating a white tide through the Historic Quarter of Cartagena.
