The Councilor for Education of the City of Cartagena, Irene Ruiz, visited this morning, June 21, the school of La Asomada to see first hand the project that have developed, during this school year, 23 students of 6th grade, with the objective of improving the situation of both the environment and the waters of the Mar Menor.
The children have designed a set of 212 measures with which they intend to put an end to the environmental degradation of the salt lake and in which the elimination of the use of diesel boats, replacing them with sail or electric ones, the use of biodegradable materials for the construction of beach bars on the beaches, the creation of a greenway that connects the entire Mar Menor or a park of sculptures in which the fauna and flora of the area are represented.
In addition, throughout the year, the center has been working to raise awareness among its students about the harmful effects that some seemingly harmless actions may cause in marine, terrestrial and air pollution.
Also within this project, students have launched an ecological garden, whose production is consumed in the school cafeteria itself.
