The Higher Technical School of Engineering of Roads, Canals and Ports of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) has received the special prize for disclosure in the II Civil Works Awards of the Region organized by the Ministry of Development and Infrastructure with the College Professional.
The UPCT has stood out in this category for the dissemination of its summer courses, the activities of the Engineering Campus and the workshops that both the teachers of the School and the students of the same.
"For us it is a recognition of our work of diffusion, the truth is that we are happy", assured the director of the School, Antonio Vigueras.
Murcia River
In addition, the associate professor of the UPCT, Martín José Jáuregui, was recognized in the category of Coasts and Maritime Works.
On the other hand, Murcia Río, a project in which researchers from the UPCT have participated, recovering the abandoned meanders of the Segura River on its way through the Rincón de Beniscornia, has also been awarded for being the best hydraulic and environmental work.
The UPCT project turns that space into leisure gardens, green spaces with a great diversity of native flora, shadow spaces, games, sports, educational, tourism and cultural, explains the project director, Jesús Ochoa, of the department of Vegetal Production.
This action is included in the emblematic project 'Murcia River' that aims to enhance this rural and urban space.
