In the face of the Night of San Juan, which will be held on Sunday, June 23, Local Police of Cartagena is conducting a campaign to control the sale of pyrotechnic products and the installation of bonfires throughout the municipality.
On the one hand, the agents have begun to visit and control the establishments where firecrackers are sold, in order to verify that they have the required authorization from the Government Delegation, that the products are approved, they are not sold to unaccompanied minors and they are stored with the necessary security conditions.
On the other hand, the local police officers have also begun to account for the bonfires that are being installed in their service areas, especially those that could pose a risk due to their proximity to buildings, squares or street furniture, communicating it as a matter of urgency to the Fire Extinguishing, Salvage and Civil Protection Service.
The work will intensify especially during the weekend, when the Firemen will inspect each of these locations and proceed, if necessary, to the removal or reduction of those bonfires that entail risk.
To do this, they will have a shovel and a truck from the Municipal Infrastructure brigades throughout Sunday.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE NIGHT OF SAN JUAN
The Firemen have recalled a series of recommendations with a view to the Night of San Juan, as if the bonfires were not carried out in wooded areas, or within 500 meters of them.
Neither can be installed less than 15 meters of facades, parked vehicles, trees, street furniture - banks, street lamps, litter bins - electrical or telephone lines.
To avoid jolts, it is recommended to keep around the fire a radius of 15 meters without vegetation or combustible materials.
The bonfires will not be able to block the passage to emergency vehicles either.
As a preventive measure, bonfires can not be installed on paved or paved streets.
If a municipal permit is obtained exceptionally, it will be necessary to spread a layer of sand under the fire with a minimum thickness of 10 centimeters and a radius of 2 meters greater than the same.
The proper fire should measure a maximum of 4 meters in height.
Fire should not be ignited with flammable liquids.
Do not throw drums or sprays to avoid the risk of explosion.
To protect the environment, tires and plastics should not be burned, since their burning can cause high levels of pollution in the atmosphere.
For proper shutdown, the fires should be turned off with water or earth.
It is convenient to make sure that the fire can not expand or rekindle.
The Fire Extinguishing, Salvage and Civil Protection Service of the City of Cartagena also establishes guidelines for the correct use of firecrackers and rockets.
It is recommended not to put them near the face or body, do not throw them at anyone, or introduce them in bricks or bottles.
In the event that a burn is suffered, it is necessary to apply fresh water for 2 or 3 minutes in the affected area, cover it with gauze or a clean cloth and go to a health center.
From Civil Protection, ensure that it is important not to apply ointments or creams and not to remove the remains of clothing that may have been stuck to the burned part.
In case of emergency, the 112 emergency number is available.
