The educational and professional centers participating in the Intercultural Education Program 'A school open to other cultures' have positively evaluated the activities carried out during the academic year 2018/19.
Last Thursday, June 13, professionals working in the program, both by the Department of Education and Social Services of the City of Cartagena, and by the social action entities involved in the development of activities: Murcia Acoge, Rascasa, Alraso, Accem, Columbares, Bahai Community, Cepaim and the Intercultural Centers for Youth, belonging to the Immigration Unit of the Department of Social Services, met to assess the development of the program in the course that ends.
This course has developed activities in 13 educational centers, offering 24 teaching units that contemplated activities to be carried out with specific groups within the classrooms, as well as actions that sought the involvement of the entire educational community.
The Program "A School Open to Other Cultures", is one of the oldest of the City of Cartagena, starting in 1992. Its purpose is to carry out activities in the primary and secondary schools of the municipality with the aim of promoting in them the intercultural coexistence, through the knowledge of different cultures, the approach to the migratory reality and the promotion of values ​​such as respect, empathy and solidarity.
The members of the Intercultural Education Program 'A school open to other cultures' are already working on the activities for the next school year.
