Faced with a new display of contempt from the PP to Cartagena, its culture and history, MC has denounced that the Popular Executive in the CARM has breached the Regional Law of Cultural Heritage since last October by not allowing the free visit to the Roman Theater at least for four days a month.
This Law, approved in March 2007, allowed public access, with date and time previously indicated, to all those properties declared by the Regional Government as Assets of Cultural Interest (BIC).
In this sense, the councilman of MC, Ricardo Segado, recalled that "after the numerous requests of the now elected councilor of our formation, María Dolores Ruiz, it was not until October last year when the Regional Assembly agreed to modify the norm include that these visits were free. "
In this regard, Segado pointed out that "from MC we understood this issue as something necessary, bringing these goods closer to the citizens, regardless of who owned them or the uses that were being given to them".
The popular again skip the Law
In the case of the Roman Theater, the disinterest of the PP is particularly flagrant since the current president of the Museum Foundation is a popular deputy in the Assembly.
"It seems that he has not attended the sessions," said the councilor from Cartagena, "since he should have first-hand knowledge of this regulatory change, but he has avoided paying each visit to the Museum, regardless of what the Law specifies" .
Also, Segado has stressed that this is not the first time that they fail to comply with the regulations.
"They already did it with other legal imperatives such as the opening of the Santa María del Rosell hospital, which is why we demand that the Roman Theater open its doors in accordance with the provisions of Article 8.C. of Law 4/2007 on the Cultural Heritage of the CARM so that citizens can freely access this space ".
The PP, against the proposal of MC for free municipal museums
It should be remembered that MC, in November 2016 and through the then responsible for the area of Culture and Heritage, Ricardo Segado, proposed in the plenary session the free access to municipally owned museums for all those residents in the municipality and the region from Cartagena.
This initiative, based on respect, culture and traditions as a basic pillar for the development of society, was opposed by the PP, which voted against it.
"All this is just a clear example of the contempt of the PP towards everything that Cartagena represents, they do not care about our culture or our heritage, as they have shown so many times, MC will continue working to boost it and put it in value, against all odds. if necessary, because Cartagena and the Cartagena people deserve it ".
