This Thursday, June 13, the X edition of Training on Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative pathologies has begun in the assembly hall of the UNED with the opening ceremony and welcome by the coordinator of AFAL Cartagena y Comarca, Sonia Gayoso , and the president of the association, María José Regueiro.

The conference, organized by AFAL Cartagena and Comarca with the collaboration of the Department of Social Services, will focus during the two days in the knowledge of this disease, as well as giving tools to socio-health professionals, but also to caregivers and family members who are affected.

The Acting Councilor of Social Services, Mercedes García, accompanied by the coordinator and president of AFAL, attended the opening ceremony, together with the manager of Area II of Health of Cartagena and Region, José Francisco Sedes, among other organizers and professionals of Health.

Thanks to volunteers of Civil Protection from Aledo who have attended the event with three canine units trained to rescue people, attendees have been able to learn the protocol of action in the disappearance of seniors, which in most cases is usually the dismissal or disorientation caused by the disease.

"What most associations and affected demand are specialized centers in Alzheimer," says the mayor of Social Services, "days like today are for those affected living in a more balanced way with the disease but at the same time to raise awareness society that is a growing disease. "

During the rest of the morning, the speakers offered information about the personal autonomy of the patients by the hand of Ruth Pastor, therapeutic exercises in elderly people affected by physiotherapist Ángeles Fernández, as well as the current situation of the disease in our region by Enrique Bocos.
