The virtual surgical planning company Avamed Synergy, based in Murcia, is interested in the research lines of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT).
The CEO of the company, Lucas Díez, today held a meeting with researchers to promote research in biomedical engineering applied to digital surgical planning.
The company is dedicated to the digital planning of surgery through the virtual recreation of 3d models obtained from digital medical imaging scans.
It offers three solutions: Traumasx response, Kranyos Onestep and Maxylos response oriented to the development of personalized (custom-made) implants and exclusive for neurosurgery (craniofacial surgery) and maxillofacial surgery that allow the obtaining of boarding planes, cutting guides, margins of resection negative in order to increase safety for the patient and reduce the costs associated with the surgical act.
This morning they presented their research lines to the company, researchers Manuel Burgos, from the group of Fluid Mechanics and Thermal Engineering;
Antonio Javier García, of Telematics Engineering;
José Luis Sancho, from the Data Processing and Machine Learning group;
Lola Ojados, professor who develops the anti-roll arch for tractors of the project new safety devices and machines;
Juan Suardíaz, from the Division of Innovation in Telematics Systems and Electronic Technology and the researcher at the University of Murcia, José Avilés, a UPCT graduate who collaborates with Professor of Traumatology at the UMU, Fernando Santoja Medina with Joaquín Roca, professor of the UPCT in the development of new diagnostic and assessment systems in traumatology.
