The new Municipal Corporation of Cartagena will take possession on Saturday, June 15 at ten in the morning (06/06/2019)

The constituent assembly of the City of Cartagena for the next four years will take place on Saturday, June 15 at ten in the morning.

It will be the most feminine corporation in the history of the municipality, with an absolute majority of 16 women, compared to 11 men, belonging to six political parties: MC Cartagena (8), PP (7), PSOE (6), Ciudadanos (2) ), Vox (2) and Podemos-IU-Verdes-Equo (2).

The act can be followed live online, through the municipal news channel on YouTube.

The plenary hall and the reception room on the first floor will be reserved for family members and guests of the elected councilors, while television monitors for the general public will be set up in the rooms on the ground floor.

The plenary session will be presided over by an age group, consisting of Manuel Padín (Citizens) and Ricardo Segado (MC Cartagena).

First they will take possession, by oath or promise of the Constitution, and will be followed by the rest of councilors in alphabetical order.

The distribution of the seats will be for this session in order of representation and votes of the different political parties.

For the election of mayor, as established in the regulations of the plenary session, the Corporation must pronounce itself by absolute majority if it wants it to be secret, otherwise it will be by show of hands.

If none of the candidates of the parties obtains in that vote a minimum of 14 councilors, which marks the absolute majority, the mayor of the most voted list will automatically be proclaimed mayor, in this case, José López Martínez, of MC Cartagena.
