The City of Cartagena informs about the activation of level 1 (preventive) of the "Framework protocol for municipal action in environmental episodes of pollution of NO2 and PM10" by exceeding the daily PM10 particle limit value in La Aljorra during the day of Monday, June 3, according to the data provided by the General Directorate of Environment and Mar Menor of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.
Specifically, the average daily concentration of PM10 particles recorded in La Aljorra during the day was 51 μg / m3, compared to 50 μg / m3 established as a daily limit value that can not be exceeded more than 35 times per year , in the RD 102/2011 relating to the improvement of air quality.
PM10 particulate pollution levels recorded in the other control stations of the municipality have not exceeded the reference limit values.
The Directorate General for Environment and Mar Menor has indicated that abnormal deviations were observed in this delegation between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m., reaching 491 pg / m3 at 18,340 hours.
It has also been warned that it has reviewed the Integrated Continuous Emissions Control System (SICCE) of the nearby chemical pole and no anomaly has been detected.
The recommended measures, during the period that the preventive level remains active, are the following:
Preferentially use public transport, shared use of private vehicles and avoid as far as possible the displacements in private vehicles when it is not strictly necessary, especially in journeys within the towns.
Do not burn stubble or agricultural margins.
Avoid carrying out earth movements, cultivation areas and other practices that contribute to the generation of dust clouds while the episode persists.
Try to avoid exposure to the ambient air of especially sensitive people, such as children, the elderly and the sick.
