This Thursday, May 30, began the III Conference on Education and Community Health, which in this edition will be developed under the slogan "ConVive in the Diversity of your neighborhood", an initiative born from the commitment of public administrations , social entities and citizenship involved in the Intercultural Community Process of the Historic District and Sector Station of Cartagena.
The act that opened the programming, which will run until June 6 promoted by 18 entities, attended the acting councilor of the Department of Social Services, Education and Transparency, Mercedes Garcia, along with the medical director of the Santa Maria Hospital Rosell, Mª José Alonso.
The objective of this Conference is connected with the need to respond to one of the main challenges we have to face as a society: the local management of diversity -in its broadest sense- in terms of opportunities.
The contents to be addressed place special emphasis on addressing diversity in all its areas: cultural, generational, gender ..., focusing on the wealth it provides in terms of social development.
The Days of Education and Community Health contribute to consolidate the role and protagonism of social, educational, health and cultural resources in the territory as key strategic resources for the promotion of citizen participation, coexistence and social cohesion.
From the Workshop "Cultural Keys for Health Management" aimed at socio-health professionals, workshops on the promotion of healthy habits, talks on prevention of addictions to gambling and gambling, intergenerational contact activities using the methodology of assisted therapy with animals, Cartagena Yesterday and Today, Life Stories workshop, Talk about Active Aging, until the march that will take place next Friday May 31 under the theme "Walk with your Health Center", are part of the programming of activities that will be developed until June 6, 2019.
In addition, this year, the program is completed with the V Technical Conference "Living the present, building the future" to be held on May 30, and which will be presented to technicians and technicians of public institutions and social entities, the main conclusions of the Community Assessment that has been carried out recently, as well as the future challenges of the Community Process of the Historical Center and Sector Station of Cartagena.
To end the week, on June 6, will take place the IV Community Meeting, which will transfer the results of the Community Assessment, to residents of these neighborhoods with the aim of sharing with them the main challenges in key to improvement
This initiative meets the needs identified by the different professional teams, being part of the community actions contemplated from the Intercultural Community Intervention Project (ICI Project), promoted by the Obra Social "la Caixa" and developed in collaboration with the City of Cartagena and Cepaim Foundation.
What is the Intercultural Community Intervention Project (ICI Project)?
The Intercultural Community Intervention Project is being developed in 37 neighborhoods of Spain in collaboration with different administrations and social entities, it is a social action initiative with a preventive orientation and that fosters intercultural relations, favors social cohesion and aims to empower society for the coexistence and community development of their territories.
In Cartagena, the ICI Project has been carried out since July 2014 through the collaboration of the City of Cartagena and the Cepaim Foundation.
