From the month of January and until the end of May of this 2019, the Department of Social Services together with Proyecto Abraham have developed in a coordinated way two community care projects subsidized by the Murciano Institute of Social Action, framed in the Gypsy Development Plan.
Villalba neighborhood has been working on this line since 2014, and after evaluating the work done last year, the Autonomous Community expanded the economic allocation granted to the City of Cartagena, thus beginning the intervention project with the Roma population of the Barriada Virgen de la Caridad.
"CALCAS" has been the project that has been carried out in the surroundings of the social housing of the Barriada Virgen de la Caridad
Workshops to improve communication, emotional management, and other personal skills have been the work groups of minors and women.
It has also promoted the holding of assemblies in homes, which has allowed many residents to join the project Calcas, whose purpose is to improve the lives of families residing in public housing, improving neighborhood relations and space common.
"WE are ONE" has been the project carried out this year in the Villalba neighborhood.
We have worked with neighbors to be able to lead collective management and organization, and with children and young people, expanding their resources and their training.
The objective of the project is the revitalization of the social fabric of the area to address the needs and needs of the neighborhood from the perspective of their neighbors;
thus improving their quality of life.
On Friday, the 31st, the two projects will end with a small coexistence and presentation of diplomas for all the participants, in the Social Work Unit of Virgen de la Caridad and in the social premises of the Villalba neighborhood.
