This Sunday, June 2, from 9 am, Cartagena will become the scene of the XIV edition of the SERTRI Triathlon 'Ciudad de Cartagena'.
A test that is included in the Regional Circuit of the Federation of the Region of Murcia, organized by the Cadena SER, the Triathlon Club Cartagena and the Federation of Triathlon of the Region of Murcia and that has the collaboration of the Department of Sports of the City of Cartagena, the Port Authority and the Race Club.
Sports Councilman in office, Manuel Mora, presented this Wednesday, May 29, in the company of the director of the SER delegation in Cartagena, Antonio Rosas, and the president of the Cartagena Triathlon Club, Miguel Lopez, the fourteenth edition of this sports festival.
Manuel Mora said that "approximately 600 athletes from several Autonomous Communities will show their strength, power, ability and endurance for four hours."
Of the athletes, 350 will participate in the absolute test or Sprint, while the rest, 250, will participate in the other categories.
The president of the Cartagena Triathlon Club, Miguel López, has detailed the different circuits that make up this sporting event, consecrated in the city.
9 hours: Absolute category or Sprint: 750 meters of swimming, 20 kilometers by bicycle and 5 kilometers on foot.
11:30 am: Children's category-cadet and Women's Triathlon: 400 meters of swimming, 8 kilometers by bicycle and 2 kilometers on foot.
13 hours: Alevin category: 200 meters of swimming, 4 kilometers by bicycle and 1 kilometer on foot.
Likewise, there is a Kids category for the little ones in which they do not throw themselves into the water, it is not competitive and there are medals for all the participants.
The test, which is a duathlon, will be held at the Plaza de los Héroes de Cavite.
The start and finish of the different sports events will take place in the Plaza de los Héroes de Cavite and Cuba.
The participants will start from the old Club de Regatas, where they will start the swimming section, they will return to the boxes located in the surroundings of the Flag of Spain, in the Esplanade of the Port, and they will face the section in bicycle, that will take them to the tunnel of Cala Cortina to close the competition with the race on foot, which will pass through the Plaza Puertas de San José and the Wall.
The trophies will be handed out at 2:00 pm at the Town Hall Square.
Antonio Rosas, director of the delegation of the Cadena Ser in Cartagena, concluded by stressing that this test "should be worthy of applause and grateful both nationally and regionally."
On the other hand, the organization involves more than 100 people including volunteers and members of the club, as well as Local Police, Firemen and sponsors.
