The new edition of the sports and solidarity race Marcha Mujer, organized by the Department of Equality of the City of Cartagena, has brought together more than a hundred women, who have not lost the opportunity to contribute their bit in the investigation of the endometriosis
Endometriosis is a chronic and silent disease that occurs when the tissue of the uterus, the endometrium, grows and swells outside it, usually in the ovaries, tubes, bladder, bowel, kidneys, liver, or even in the lungs, causing pain stinging, which do not have a specific treatment.
This disease affects 1 in 10 women, a total of 176 million affected in the world.
In Spain, it suffers 2 million women, while in the Region of Murcia, there are 35 thousand affected.
The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, along with the Councilor for Equality, David Martínez, and other members of the municipal corporation such as Manuel Mora, Mercedes García or Ana Rama have led the march accompanied by members of the group affected by Endometriosis, with delegation in Cartagena and the participants.
The race, which has begun with a batucada, has started at 10 am, from the Plaza de España in the port city and will cross the Alameda de San Antón, Sebastián Feringán street, the Tentegorra road and will end at the Rafael de the Bristle of the Tentegorra Channels.
Once there will be a coexistence with various activities, including a raffle of products donated by employees.
Around, at 18 hours, a bus will pick up the participants and move them to the starting point.
All the money of the test (1 euro per registration) will go to the research of endometriosis.
The objective is for researchers to study the immune mechanisms involved in order to design less aggressive diagnoses and develop new more affective therapies.
The poster of this edition of the March Woman is the work of Laura Marina Pedreño and shows, from a modern vision, a multitude of points that represent people marching.
