The Ceremonial Hall of the Palace of the City of Cartagena hosted this Wednesday, May 22, the act of delivery of plaques for the services rendered to around forty municipal workers who have retired in the last year.
The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, and the councilor of Public Function, Manuel Mora, have delivered these awards.
They have also been accompanied by the general director of Public Employment, José Serrano, and the councilors of the Corporation, Manuel Padín and Esperanza Nieto.
After the ceremony, all of them have taken a family photo on the steps of the Palace Hall.
The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, has started the act by thanking all the municipal employees of the City Council who have retired in the last year for their public service work.
"Thank you because you have done a commendable job, which has directly affected the lives of all Cartagena."
The first mayor of the city says that now opens a future full of illusions.
He has quoted the writer Gabriel García Márquez to affirm that "it is not true that people stop pursuing their dreams because they get old, they get old because they stop pursuing their dreams".
Castejón says that, from now on, they own their future.
"You know, you have to travel, read, enjoy the beach, climb mountains, in short, manage and be the owners of your time."
Municipal workers who have come to receive the plaque, many of them local police, accumulated years of service ranging between ten and 44 years.
FRIDAY CLOSES MUNICIPAL DEPENDENCIES
For operational reasons, the Santa Rita festivity has been moved to Friday, May 24, as a rest day for municipal employees.
That day will be closed to the public all municipal administrative units, which include also the OMITAS, but can nevertheless perform paperwork through the municipal electronic headquarters.
Yes, the local police and fire services will remain operative, like a normal day.
On the occasion of the festival, municipal employees have organized a series of activities throughout the month, including exhibitions, championships and days of fraternization.
