From Tuesday, May 21, the fish market of Santa Lucia shines in its access gate a panel 18 meters long by 2 high, which shows and explains the different fishing gear used in the zone, such as trawling and purse seine.

It is a municipal initiative funded by the City of Cartagena, through the Department of Economic Strategy, Animal Health and Welfare, which complements a series of actions launched in order to bring the citizen and visitor the Santa Lucía fish market, its great social, cultural, patrimonial, environmental and gastronomic value.

So for the improvement of the image and enhancement of the building, seven informative panels were installed where the history of the Brotherhood and the fish process are collected until it arrives at our table, counting with European Maritime Fund and Fishing through the call of Galpemur of 2018.

6,000 brochures have also been edited, with snapshots provided free of charge by the Cartagena photographers JAPAAN (Javier Carrasco, Pablo Robles and Antonio J. Liarte), which include the recommended itinerary to be followed by the fish market as well as schedules and standards to be taken into account in the visit, given that it is a workplace.

Likewise, a video has been recorded of the auction process and the work carried out by the fishermen of Cartagena, one of the oldest guilds in the city, which will be screened at the same auction and for which assistance has been requested. to the call of Galpemur of 2019.

On the other hand, aid has been requested for two other projects.

One of them is a Marine Route of the county town of Santa Lucía, highlighting the cultural dimension of the sea as identity of the neighborhood to increase the tourist offer of the city, where the fish market and its fishing activity occupy a prominent place.

The other, consists of a Guide of Submarine Itineraries of the Municipality of Cartagena directed to the promotion, spreading and impulse of the scuba diving in our coast.

This guide will contain infographics that portray the details of the seabed with a three-dimensional perspective and a high degree of realism.
