An important deficiency to correct.
The Cantonal Party of Cartagena includes in its electoral program for the upcoming municipal elections the restoration of the municipal bicycle loan service.
The system would oblige users to give their personal data (name, surnames, DNI and updated address according to the municipal census) online in the web portal created for that purpose.
This identification in an electronic file would have effects before the justice in the cases of damages or even theft of the vehicle of two wheels.
The municipal concessionaire would offer daily, monthly and annual payments that would lower the rent of the units even more.
The plan devised by the PCAN establishes delivery and collection points for bicycles both in the urban case and in the main suburbs such as Los Dolores or Barrio de Peral.
The involvement of the residents of the councils is essential for the success of the initiative both from the environmental point of view as well as by the smaller number of car agglomerations with the decrease in their use.
Cartagena has already enjoyed a municipal bike-breaking service from 2006 to 2013. Subsequently, the former mayor, José López, promised again and again his recovery but the intentions remained empty words without any concretion.
Even, once the current mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, dismissed López as councilor for Urbanism and Infrastructure, the number two of this in MC and president of this party, Jesús Giménez Gallo, questioned the viability of the project in the city port when he was still CEO, hired by López, from the municipal area of Sustainable Development.
The Cantonal Party proposes an initiative similar to that of important cities such as Seville or Murcia.
The candidate for mayor and general secretary of the PCAN, Celestino García Alfaro, does not understand the reticence of the outgoing governors.
"This system works with total security in other places, Cartagena is not going to be less, not just betting on this municipality with a mouthpiece and empty songs in the sun", García Alfaro.
