The Night of the Museums celebrates its eleventh edition on Saturday, May 18, coinciding with the celebration of the International Day of Museums and under the theme 'Museums as cultural hubs: The future of tradition'.
The International Museum Day is celebrated worldwide since 1977. The long night of museums was born, under that name, in the city of Berlin that same year.
Since then, many other European cities (http://nuitdesmusees.culture.fr) join this initiative promoted by the Council of Europe joining the commemorative events of ICOM (International Council of Museums) within the International Day of Museums.
The museum spaces, tourist centers and entities, will have special opening hours, offering the visitor a rich cultural, historical and archaeological heritage, throughout the day and night and placing Cartagena, once again, as the epicenter of culture in the region.
In this eleventh edition, The Night of the Museums has more than 200 activities between exhibitions and performances and in which it is worth highlighting 36 routes and guided tours, in the morning and afternoon, with a total of one thousand one hundred places;
34 exhibitions and more than 20 children's workshops.
Among the different spaces that make up this edition, fifty-four in particular, attendees will find as novelties "the opening of the Roman Amphitheater, which in the light of the moon will recover its ancient splendor and will take us back to the middle of the 1st century AD.

Also, the official poster of the XXX edition of the Fiestas de Carthagineses y Romanos will be known.

The Night of the Museums of Cartagena has reached such a dimension that it is capable of awakening the interest of the numerous visitors from outside our city.
For this reason, the organization of the event in collaboration with the Association Agrup Hotels, will offer visitors who stay overnight in the city, a guided tour of all the rooms and works of art of the Palace Hall, building summit of Modernism in Cartagena.
To facilitate commuting, Alsa urban buses will offer a circular bus service from the Municipal Archaeological Museum to the Glass Museum, every 15 minutes, from 7 pm to 1 am, as well as an uninterrupted extraordinary schedule in a large number of its urban lines.
VOLUNTEERS
A cultural event that would not be possible without the selfless and always necessary help of volunteers, anonymous people who belong to a number of entities and programs such as the Implica2 Program of the Youth Council, the Vice-Rectorate of Students, University Extension and Sports of the UPCT, students of the branch of History of the UNED, the Association of Museums Guides, the Feast Federation of Carthaginians and Romans, CIFP of Hospitality and Tourism, the Youth Correspondents, the volunteers of the Cartagena Free of Rumors program and others particular.
That night will also have the participation of social groups such as the SOI Foundation, ÁPICES, the Galactyco Collective and the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Cartagena.
A day of activities that will make Cartagena display its cultural heritage and that would not be possible without the collaboration of museum spaces, interpretation center and other collaborating entities, to which we invite all citizens and visitors who want to live one of the nights most magical of Cartagena.
