The Teatro Circo Apolo of El Algar will host during the month of June the IV National Contest of Amateur Theater of Cartagena, where theatrical groups from all the national geography will meet in this enclave.
The presentation of the program and the finalists of the contest took place this Friday, May 17, and counted with the presence of the Councilor of the Municipal Government, Mercedes García, of the president of the Performing Arts Platform of Cartagena y Comarca ( PAECC), Lito Campillo, and the artistic manager of the Teatro Circo Apolo of El Algar, Cristina Roca.
The councilor of the Municipal Government, Mercedes García, has highlighted "the good health" of the amateur theater in the municipality of Cartagena and has emphasized the contests of La Palma, Pozo Estrecho or Isidoro Maiquez.
In addition, he explained that thanks to this cultural initiative "the theater approaches the neighborhoods and councils of Cartagena."
The contest provides during the month of June an extra cultural program that is already performed at the Teatro Circo Apolo in El Algar.
The plays will be performed on May 31, June 7 and 8.
On Saturday, June 15 will be the closing and delivery of prizes.
Cristina Roca, artistic manager of the Teatro Circo Apolo in El Algar, said that it was "very difficult" for the jury to select the three works that will be represented in the 60 proposals: 'Bocata y Fuga', by the Theater Company La Cómica, '24 -F ', by Almadraba Teatro, and,' Maison Close ', by ParasKenia Teatro.
The representation of the works will take place at 9:30 p.m.
'Bocata y Fuga' tells the story of Pedro, who after resigning from his position, his life changes and takes a 360 degree turn to meet a woman named Rafaela.
A funny and full of laughter comedy directed by Elvira Pineda.
The performance of the work will take place on Friday, May 31.
On June 7 it is the turn of Almadraba Teatro and his work '24 -F '.
The work from Alicante tells a funny story that goes on in the store of a restaurant on the day of the coup d'état in Spain, on February 23.
A work praised by critics and the public and winner of numerous awards such as the Theater Competition of the City of Alamansa or the Theater Competition 'Paco Rabal' of Águilas.
ParasKenia Teatro arrives at this event with the play 'Maison Close', which tells the story of Madame Nicole, a former Jewish prostitute, survivor in Auschwitz, who lives in Paris caring for children of prostitutes working in Montmartre.
In addition, it reflects the search for the origins of a boy named Toto, who was abandoned at Madame Nicole's house when he was four years old.

On June 15 the jury (Ana Ballabriga, Diana de Paco Serrano and Manuel Llamas Lafarga) will choose the winner of the contest, which will win a prize of 800 euros, while the second and third, 500 and 200 euros respectively.
A special prize from the public, better male and female performance, better actor and supporting actress will also be awarded, in addition to the award for the best direction.
The president of the Performing Arts Platform of Cartagena and Region, Lito Campillo, has indicated that the play 'Ojala' will be performed in a gala "full of surprises".
Access to the gala is free and will be at 9:30 p.m.
'Ojalá', performed by the company Aladroque Teatro, invites, in the first place, to reflect ourselves as in a mirror, and secondly, it encourages us to reflect and, where appropriate, change our behavior with the simple objective of improve our own quality of life and of the people around us.
His characters talk about the different prices paid for mistakes made throughout life, including death.
A fake, a woman, an old man, a sick man and a weak man of heart, will be in charge of talking about those mistakes made by them and by the society that judges them.
Cristina Roca explained that "we try to get people to come to the theater, that's why, we decided to get a bonus for the three works of 18 euros".
Each work, its entrance costs 8 euros.
Both the bonus and individual tickets can be purchased on the theater's website, at the ticket office (Wednesday, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm) and at the post office.
