This past Wednesday May 15 was held the closing of the XI Petanque Municipal Championship organized by the clubs of Vista Alegre and Jose M. Lapuerta in collaboration with the Department of Social Services, which began in March.
The Councilor for Social Services, Mercedes García, together with the president of the Federation of Associations and Centers for the elderly, María Beteta, were in charge of handing over the trophies to the winners in the Vista Alegre senior club.
The first prize has been won by the Cartagena III team, the second has gone to the Vista Alegre team, the third to the Molinos Marfagones B team and, finally, the fourth to Bº Peral B.
The championship is organized with the objectives of enhancing the active participation of older people in traditional sports activities, promoting the acquisition of healthy habits and strengthening social relations between different centers for the elderly.
In this eleventh edition, 8 teams participated, belonging to the Senior Centers of: Molinos Marfagones, Alumbres, Bº Peral, Jose María Lapuerta, Vista Alegre and Cartagena III.
