A few days ago the acting mayor of Cartagena has assured that it intends to implement a comprehensive plan to improve the CATAD (Center for the Reception and Treatment of Domestic Animals), promoting transparency in its management and collaborating with animal protection entities, review the specifications and adapt the service to the new Animal Protection Law.
From VOX Cartagena we remind the PSOE candidate that her bipartisan government with Movimiento Ciudadano has had four years to do all that it promises now and that has been limited to letting the company responsible for that service, on which there are well-founded suspicions of its malfunction and breach of the Law.
VOX carries in its electoral program for the City of Cartagena the transparency and control of the management, giving maximum publicity to the hiring of personnel, public works or services, which must always be done through public competitions that guarantee the maximum participation of offers, the objectivity in its selection and the prevalence of the general interest.
In this regard, we intend to review, control and oversee the operation of contracts and concessions of all public services, including CATAD, whose contract ends this year, bidding for new contracts with guarantees of free competition and transparency.
On the other hand, we will adapt the ordinance on protection and possession of companion animals to Law 6/2017, of November 8, of protection and defense of companion animals of the Region of Murcia, a mandate that is pending to be fulfilled by of the City of Cartagena for 17 months.
